Shadow Council Comments
Bill Simpson"It is, of course, a disappointment that City Council voted for the subsidy. However, the April 8th amount was $5 million and the current amount of the subsidy is 3.7 million. This means that the Golden Shadow City Council was instrumental in saving Golden taxpayers $1.3 million. Our long-term goal should be to ensure that no tax subsidies are granted without voter approval."Bob Nelson
"I vote NO on any incentive programs for developers! I believe that a developer should know what obstacles lie in his/her path when they buy a piece of property. I think that the council will pass a resolution that will grant some form of incentive to the developer of the Interplaza West project, and we just need to let the council that we disapprove."Valerie Walker
"My vote is NO on Interplaza West. While the wording of this deal may be different and the amount may be less, the result is the same - a big box development in Golden. It does not fit Golden's small town character and 75% of those who voted in the last election opposed it. The council members must be held responsible to the electorate. If not on this issue, what will they attack next - the 1% growth limit?"
