approved because of 3,000 $75 donations (later 5,800) to the
Medal of Honor Foundation --whose board included the publisher
of The Chieftain and the District Attorney-- yet now having cost
over $1.3 million paid for by an additional $660,000 of Colorado
DOT federal ARRA stimulus funds. Is this good old boy politics?
Lots (M) and (L) are the so-called grassy slopes, destined to
become Borderlands Park!

"The Global Spectrum team at the Pueblo Convention Center will work cooperatively
with the Urban Renewal Authority of Pueblo to educate the public on the important role
our facility plays in Pueblo's economic development in hopes of passing the expansion
vote in November 2008."
Annual Report 2007
Pueblo Convention Center
"Renewed & Refreshed"
They LOST the Convention Center expansion vote THREE TIMES!
The Council unanimously (including the "liberal" majority) slipped
through the allocation for the bridge on the consent agenda. Now they
want more stimulus, tourism, TIF, and PEDCO dollars to pay for rejected
convention center space. If any are granted (see #9 above) the voters'
will is trampled. The right wants a "Trail of Valor" extending from
The Four Statues through a Convention Center mausoleum to the Veterans
Bridge to their new privately funded Center for American Values on
Main St. with its embarrassing entrance at Riverwalk level (see below).
Officials issued a plan to build a "Heritage Plaza Event Space" (see
#7 above) but A WEEK LATER they put all the space they had promised
up for sale.
None of this is what the majority in Pueblo wants. What part of NO
did our public servants not understand?
