T & G

Dear PACE Union Sisters and Brothers,

I am writing to express the support of the Transport and General Workers Union which represents 3,000 union workers at Imerys (formerly Imetal) plants in the United Kingdom.

We are appalled by the behavior and the union-busting being practiced by Imerys against PACE union members and union supporters in Alabama and Georgia. The company's efforts to weaken the union and convince workers in the United States not to support the union cannot be tolerated. The company's showing of anti-union films and holding anti- union meetings with workers, which are being used to confuse and intimidate workers, are completely unacceptable to us. Supporting a union should not require an act of courage but should simply be a democratic right exercised by each individual worker.

Please understand that you are not alone in this fight against the anti-union management of Imerys. A weakening of the union in the United States also impacts us. We fully understand that workers at Imerys' worldwide operations will be harmed if the company is successful in eliminating unions from its workplaces in the United States.

We are informing our workers at Imerys about the situation and are discussing how we can best assist you in the tradition of union solidarity.

Fraternally,

Len McCluskey
National Secretary
