Area Information

There are numerous activites and ammenities the local Wet Mountain Valley and southern Front Range areas have to offer. The major driving route through the area has been nationally designated the Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway, one of the most beautiful drives you can take anywhere! The San Isabel National Forest covers much of the vicinity, offering hiking, biking, camping, picnicing, fishing and hunting opportunities galore with grand vistas that rival the best there is. The Sangre de Cristo's are the straightest, highest & longest continuous mountain chain on the planet, most worthwhile to see for yourself and experience Mother Nature at her finest.

The surrounding towns are all small rural communities that offer quality lodging and eatery's. Please visit their respective websites for more info.

Highly Recommended Experiences:

Mission: WOLF is a local wolf preserve with 47 wolves and hybrids residing on a 114 acre habitat that the public is welcome to visit. The Bear Basin Adventure Specialists will take you on an authentic old west horseback adventure around their 8000 acre ranch or up into the Sangre de Cristo's for longer trips. And when you come back in tired and hungry, have some of the best pizza off the east coast at Silver Cliff's Pizza Madness (719.783.9300) and see a show at Westcliffe's 1920's era Jones Theater. There are also a handful of local festivals and fairs each year guarenteed to delight and amaze. Check with each area's Chamber of Commerce for dates and times of annual events.
