I checked out your web site after reading
about it in the Transcript. I hope you keep it going. I
plan to visit it periodically for an alternative view of
developments in Golden.
As a Chamber
Board member and Chair of the Chamber's Economic
Development Council, I try to learn as much as I can
about the city, and your perspective of developments I
see from an entirely different angle is
interesting.
Like many alternative communication vehicles,
however, yours seems to me to suffer from a narrowness
that will affect its credibility
over the long term. By that, I mean that the issues and
the developments you cover are nowhere near as simple as
you make them out to be, and the people you portray as
merely clones,
all working blindly to bring more development to the city
are far more complex than you make them out to be. That
is what normally happens when one watches developments
from the outside.
It is very easy to put isolated happenings
together and come up with a
story that is apparently cohesive and
indisputable, if you want to believe it strongly
enough....
My point is simply this. No matter how much you
think only you have the "real" story, you don't, and
there is no way that you can as long as you write as an
outsider.
What I'm hoping is that, over time, you'll see that
the issues, the developments and the people are all more
complex than you now portray them. Some recognition of
that in your site will give it more credibility and
perhaps keep it from becoming a place for only the
disaffected, the frustrated and the paranoid.
Just my two cents worth.
