We learned yesterday that Dennis Redecker, a member of IMERYS Managing Board of Directors and head of IMERYS Pigments Division, unexpectedly resigned. We believe that Mr. Redeker was asked to leave.

Since we believe that Mr. Redeker, former CEO of ECC, was responsible for the torrid of anti-union practices by IMERYS, we also hope that this is a sign that IMERYS wants to persue a different direction.

IMERYS can prosper by empowering its workers and by allowing them to make a free and democratic decision to have a union. Empowerment of workers means allowing workers to have rights on the job. A union contract is the only way to bring this about.

We express our profound gratitude to our union sisters and brothers in Great Britain, France and Belgium in helping us to build a wall of union solidarity. We also express our deep appreciation to the unionized PACE workers in Dry Branch for their noble acts of solidarity and to our sisters and brothers in Sandersville who have just begun their journey toward unionization.

We have accomplished an important first step in ensuring a better work life and a better company--for all.

As the old union songs say, roll the union on and solidarity forever.
