My congratulations to the workers at Imerys in Alabama for gaining Union recognition.

Your fellow workers at Imerys in Cornwall, England have enjoyed the benefits of this for many years. Cornwall is an area of high unemployment, so don't believe that the benefits are due to supply and demand. They are due to good negotiation and collective bargaining and knowledge by the workforce that "Unity is Strength"

To all those who seem to be waging an "anti" campaign, I say this. This is not a war, a battle for supremacy or "last man standing". It is about co-operation, not confrontation, working together for the benefit of all concerned. In an unemployment blackspot like Cornwall, I wish to see Imerys expand and flourish because it means more employment for our members. Good employment, secure with sick pay, pension etc, not three months at minimum wage during the holiday season. That is why, as the full-time Officer for the Transport and General Workers' Union, who represents your brothers and sisters at Imerys in Cornwall, I do so with responsibility, not adversity.

Best wishes, back your Union - you won't regret it.
