My article stated that PACE was 300,000 members strong! All of these 300,000 are in unions and most have fought hard battles to get what they deserved, A FAIR CONTRACT. These people have laid the ground work for newly organized places. They help you, because they have contracts in place that you can build on when you negotiate your first contract. Knowing some of the Brothers at Georgia Pacific (Steve Hurst, Joe Duncan, Raymond Evans, to name a few) the voice was there, you just were not listening! Evidently, you were not a strong union member. The Brothers at G.M. voted and agreed on a contract that they saw as being acceptable. It's true I will not have a voice at Imery's ( I don't work there nor will I pay dues to that local). But you can rest assured, if I'm asked, I will help or assist your negotiating committee and your executive board any way I can! A local is only as strong as it's membership and it's leaders. This new local WILL have strong leadership and membership. It's called SOLIDARITY, 300,000 strong!!! VOTE YES ON JUNE 22 Ronald, You know the value of a union, Do the right thing on JUNE 22. |
