| There will be many false stories circulating about how strikes are called by labor unions, so you need to know how they are called in PACE Intl. Union.
IN THE FIRST PLACE THIS UNION DOES NOT LIKE STRIKES. It prefers to settle disputes with management at the bargaining table. But if a settlement cannot be reached, it is the right of free workers to strike for what they believe is just. If all efforts at the bargaining table fail, the group of members concerned in a particular dispute may ask for a strike vote. Such a strike vote is carried on by the local union. Before a strike may actually be called the members who would be involved in the strike must vote in favor of a strike. PACE Intl. Union gives financial support to a strike only if two-thirds of the MEMBERS concerned have voted in favor of a strike by SECRET BALLOT. Who calls a strike in PACE Intl. Union?
