| I have been an employee at ECC for over 14 yrs and I have a some questions about the union. At this time, I am not for nor aganist the union.I just have some questions and I'll try to use a little common sense here. I have talked with several Georgia Marble workers and I dont understand what you gain with the union. To my knowledge, based on what I've been told by GM employee's here at Sylacauga..ECC had better wages over all, ECC had better insurance/benefits, ECC had a better retirement program, ECC had a 401-k program and GM did not, ECC had a better vacation program,and as far as working conditions...All you had to do was open your eyes and ECC had GM beat my light years. I know things at the Sylacauga plant are not perfect and probably never will be, union or not (just a fact).And it's ture some people get away with everything or so it seems. I realize I have no guarantee of having a job tomorrow as it stands today and as I understand it, the union cant guarantee me I will have one as well. I've seen union employees get fired/layed off here in Sylacauga after a buyout in the past....so please tell me how i can benifitt form going union>? I think it's a fair question..!!
