I cannot speak for other departments, but in my department, some of the ones who are the most vocal in supporting the Union just happen to be the ones who do less than their share of the work. Now, I am not accusing pro-union workers of being lazy generally; in fact, there are some very hard-working union supporters, even in my department. But it doesn't convince me when someone slacks off all shift, letting me take care of most of the work, while he complains and whines about management not treating him fairly. Why is it that anyone who does any extra work for overtime, or to learn more about the process, is called a suck-up behind his back? Are we supposed to only do our 40 hours and refuse any opportunity to advance ourselves? If this is what you think, then don't whine if someone who works harder than you gets "extra, extra special treatment". I work very hard at my job, and I kiss no one's a--. I am NOT against the union, but I am against the attitudes some of the union supporters have adopted towards anyone who doesn't agree with their beliefs. If all union workers were like them, the company would soon go to hell in a handbasket. People like Keith Fullbright I can respect, however, and luckily for PACE, there are others like him for the union. Some of you other guys need to think before you speak, because not only have I seen pro-union guys take part in some extreme "defamation of character", but also make some pretty ignorant statements that end up making me wonder about their intelligence. (It doesn't reflect well on the union, either, to have such guys represent them). Be for real, guys, the union might be a good idea, I grant you that. But don't try to convince me that it will cure every little problem in the company, right down to Coke machines that take your money (someone actually claimed this). If you want people to support the union, stop bullying, intimidating, and name-calling, and start speaking acting like civilized people. You can't tell me the "goons" are bullies when no member of management has harassed me about the union, but union supporters HAVE harassed me about having not signed.
