Catholics for Justice at Crown Central met last Tuesday, and regrets that communication with Father Harold Ridley, S.J., and Crown Central have broken down. Crown Central refuses to meet with our group if it includes Reverend Joseph L. Muth, Jr., pastor of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Crown says that Father Muth can not be objective because he invited locked-out members of Crown to speak at his church. Crown wants him to be fair, and hear their side of the story. Father Joe says that he usually has a tendency to listen to the victimized, rather than the rich. If that is a problem for Crown, I don't think that Father Joe will change. He was very moved by the readings for today, which is the feast of Christ the King, in Catholic liturgy. The gospel was Matthew 25: the Sermon on the Mount. This is where Jesus says the famous words: Blessed are the poor, for they shall see mercy..." We on the committee have respected Father Joe for many years, and will not exclude him from meetings because Crown feels he is biased and prejudiced. This weekend, I leafleted the Crown station close to my parish, which does a lot of business. Several of the people told me that they didn't know what was happening, and would reproduce our information to tell people at work. Because I live in the neighborhood, I could tell the people that I know they may not know about what is going on, so that is why I am there!
