Keeping Up The PACE in Birmingham

A special thanks to the Women's Network of the RWDSU chapter in Birmingham, AL. when they showed their support for the boycott by joining other unionists on the picket line. The Network activists picketed and distributed leaflets at the Crown station in Fairfield, AL.

The Retirees of Local #441 have adopted two Crown stations in the Birmingham area.

On October 25, 1999, the Alabama State AFL-CIO adopted a resolution on the boycott.

Much support has been received from different community organizations and small businesses. The support comes from, but is not limited to, Calvia House of Style, Wylam, AL.; Mt. Pilgrim Daycare, Fairfield, AL.; the Birmingham chapter of the A. Phillip Randolph Institute; Mt. Pilgrim Youth Organization, Fairfield, AL.; Stepos of Praise Steppers, Fairfield, AL.; Fire & Ice Hair Salon, Fairfield, AL.; and, Naughty Nails Nail Shop, Fairfield, AL.

A letter was published in the "Women's Network News" that Sharron Payne had written to the UFCW Women's Network.

Labor Day at Sloss Furnace was a big success! Informational leaflets, as well as buttons were handed out. Support was received from the different locals that day.
