APRI 2000 Southern Regional Conference was held February 25 - 27, 2000, in Nashville, Tennessee. The weekend was a success.

APRI President Norman Hill, and the APRI Chapters are supporting the Crown Boycott. They also gave their word they would be there not only on weekend rallies, but pledged their solidarity and full support on April 8, 2000 for the "Boycott Crown Blackout". Thank-you!

Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Maryland chapters are very supportive and are willing to continue to boycott and rally Crown Central Petroleum stations until the labor issues are resolved.

Joe Drexler, PACE director, and Gladys Haley, coordinator of Georgia had a panel discussion on the Crown boycott, which made a difference.

The weekend did not end in Nashville. Sunday evening, February 27, 2000 at the MLK Africa-African American Renassiance Festival 2000 Award Banquet, Rev. James Orange, coordinator of the banquet, presented me the Certificate of Appreciation Award. I also want to thank the Atlanta Chapter of the APRI for the certificate I received from the chapter . . .a salute to black leaders.

I personally want to thank the Mayor of Stone Mountain, Chuck Burris for the proclamation and support of the Crown boycott; also, Emma Jean Davis, Atlanta Chapter coordinator.

Thank you for your support.

Solidarity forever.
Gladys Haley
