Saturday, February 5, 2000 marked our fourth year of being locked-out by Crown Central Petroleum, however, we're still solid as ever and we will NOT give in nor have we given in!

We had over 200 people come and support our endeavors and enjoy a wonderful meal of beef, brisket and ribs with all the trimmings prepared by the Crown locked-out workers, Greg Jenkins, Don Coy, Ronnie Smith, Keith Overton and Loyd Moore. We owe a great deal of thanks to these gentlemen for give so much of their time to prepare this wonderful feast. We also wish to thank all the others who helped with the cleaning and serving who are too many to be named. An extra special thanks to Betty Maiden for all her hard work.

We had State Representative Kevin Bailey who gave a speech and offered to support us in any way he could. Texas AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer, Emmitt Shepherd, gave a speech and also helped sponsor the meal. Region VI Vice President Jim Byrd also gave a speech and also contributed to the meal. Executive Vice Presidential Assistant Dean Alexander (who has been involved in the negotiations) gave a small speech. Special Projects Director Joe Drexler flew in to support the Crown locked-out workers and gave a speech.

The festivities were to have ended at 2 p.m. but because everyone was having a good time the celebration ended at 5:30 p.m.

We are in great hopes that our next Bar-B-Q will be to celebrate our return to work.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped to make this a great success!
