IN BRIEF THE STATE / SAN DIEGO
Medal Sought for Controversial Shooting
November 25, 2004/L.A. TIMES

A San Diego County supervisor whose district includes Camp Pendleton has asked President Bush to award a medal for bravery to the Marine being investigated for shooting a wounded insurgent at a mosque during the battle for the Iraqi city of Fallouja.

"Anything less undermines the morale of all our troops," wrote Supervisor Bill Horn, who saw combat with the Marines in Vietnam. "He should be commended for saving the lives of his fellow Marines."

The incident was filmed by a TV cameraman embedded with U.S. troops.
